hanit Cable duct cover

CABLE DUCT COVER

For all standard cable ducts

With our cable duct cover plate made from hanit recycled plastic, we have designed a product that provides a practical and reliable solution for covering cable ducts, shafts, or construction and workshop pits, because hanit is weatherproof and extremely resistant to any environmental influences. There is therefore no risk of rotting, which is a problem with wooden covers. In comparison to concrete covers, the light weight of our recycled plastic is an important argument, because hanit cover plates are only one-third of the weight of conventional models. Not only does this save a considerable amount of money during transport, but also during installation, which can be carried out very easily by hand without the need for large machinery. The robust secondary plastic also has several other advantages which particularly pay off during demanding industrial use.

Even after years of outdoor use, hanit remains unbreakable and dimensionally stable and withstands a high degree of mechanical and chemical stress from oils, acids or alkalis without problems. A long period of reliable use without costly repairs and maintenance is therefore guaranteed with our cable duct cover plates. They are used in substations, industrial systems and railway systems where high demands are placed on the materials used and on occupational safety. Unlike concrete covers there is no fear of corrosion, meaning that there is no risk of collapsing, even after long periods of use, giving the lines and cables reliable protection. Our hanit cover plates have also proven themselves many times over as partitions, whether it is for heavy-duty applications or storing valuable steel parts because hanit provides permanent protection against expensive rust damage. Our cable duct cover plates are also an ideal solution for planking and stair treads or path construction – not least because of their ease of processing and assembly.

CABLE DUCT COVER

Durable and low maintenance

Our hanit material can be flexibly processed like wood so that even complex trapezoidal, curved or corner designs can be realised with our cable duct cover plates without problems. To guarantee optimum performance for every project and every usage area, we can provide numerous designs and special constructions. For example, our cover plates are available with optional reinforcement as a version that can be walked on or driven over.

REFERENCE PROJECT CABLE DUCT COVER

Power Station in Didcot, Oxfordshire, Great Britain

Didcot Power Station is a gas power station operated by RWE in the south of England, where our cable duct cover plates have been in reliable use for many years. The project that we would like to present to you was implemented in 2014. New cabling was to be laid in the above-mentioned power station. With this in mind, our customer, S C Civils and Maintenance Ltd was looking for a reliable and durable solution for cable duct covering. Previously, only concrete covers had been used in the Didcot power plant. However, these repeatedly caused high maintenance and repair costs, and could not satisfactorily fulfil the high safety requirements because cold cracks formed, for example. S C Civils and Maintenance Ltd also saw room for improvement with regard to installation, since concrete covers are very difficult to adjust and install because of their heavy weight. More flexibility and easier handling were wanted here since the cable ducts in the power plant are very complex, and cutting the panels to size on site is therefore unavoidable.

During the search for a suitable alternative, S C Civils and Maintenance Ltd found out about our cable duct cover plates made from hanit recycling plastic, which promised to be the perfect solution for its problems in the past thanks to its special material properties. It was particularly the durability and resistance to external influences as well as the flexible and easy installation that motivated the customer to place the order with HAHN Plastics and rely on hanit for covering the cables. S C Civils and Maintenance Ltd has not regretted this decision, since the project was successfully completed within just four weeks and to its complete satisfaction. All of the challenges during assembly such as curved cable troughs were dealt with without problems, and the financial advantages due to the reduced amount of maintenance are guaranteed to this day.
